Bringing Quality Care to Our Veterans: The VA's Top 5 Priorities for 2018
VA Secretary David J. Shulkin summarized his plans to use the 2018 budget request towards improving veteran services. The 2018 budget request for discretionary funding totals $82.1 billion (including medical care collections), of which $66.4 billion was previously provided as the VA Medical Care 2018 Advance Appropriation. The budget request for mandatory funding totals $104.3 billion. While Secretary Shulkin acknowledged the VA has made noteworthy improvements in delivering benefits to veterans, more must be done.
